What did other students think of DTS?
Lisa Oberholtzer - USA

For me DTS was a time of finding my passion for Christ and meeting others who had that same passion. I learned a lot of practical things about the Christian life, but what touched me the most was the way that God spoke to me so clearly because I had obeyed Him in coming on DTS and I was open to hearing His voice.
The lecture phase was a great time for me to deal with some unforgiveness issues in my life. Going through this process really helped to bring my family closer together. I also learned about finding balance in my life and learning self discipline. It was so important for me to practice making decisions based on my desire to live a Christ-centred life and not just because my parents had told me that some thing was good or bad.
During the outreach phase my love for missions grew and I realized that I wanted to continue serving God in other countries and meeting people and learning about other cultures.
I think the DTS is a great thing for people who want to encounter God in a powerful way and begin a time of amazing growth and discipleship.

DTS was a challenging time for me. Having just left school going on to do a DTS. I did not realise how much growing up I had to do…A lot of the teaching I recieved in YWAM often had me thinking about how much of my worldview I had inherited and not ever questioned. So as I began to think about what I believed, the truth and authority of Jesus became more real than ever before. One of the best aspects of DTS for me was the friendships that were forged during that time. It was great to have friends from so many different nations, backgrounds and denominations - just to learn from them.My outreach was with the Maasai people in Tanzania - it was such a mind blowing time, being involved in their culture and really getting to know and love a people like God does. The year of my DTS was one of the best of my life and has left a permenant mark on my life!
